Stampin’ Up…whiskers on kittens…and a few of my favorite things.

I wanted to make a colorful card to brighten someone’s day, and I wanted to experiment with an old technique. I found this card that I had created about a decade ago and wanted to try to mimic the bright cheery feeling. I actually had a hard time remembering exactly how I achieved this look!

But, here’s what I did…

I started with some glossy cardstock , a versamark pad, some re-inkers with a cotton ball and a little bit of rubbing alcohol.

I knew I wanted to use kitten images because that would surely also brighten up someone’s day. So first I used the stamps in versamark and stamped onto the glossy cardstock. Then I added color with the cotton ball and re-inkers. The images stamped in Versamark would resist the ink so a faint image of the kitten would become part of the rainbow inked background.

Then I stamped the kitten images onto a piece of Whisper white cardstock, colored them in with colored pencils and a blender pen.

I used layers of Bermuda Bay and Basic Black to put the card together.

Although I love the images and the bright colors, I decided that next time I would like to try another bold/simple image for this technique so that the resist images would be easier to recognize.

Thanks for visiting my blog!
